New women’s corral at RBC GranFondo Whistler 2019

Ladies celebrate their ride in Whistler

After asking for and hearing community feedback, we’re delighted to announce that RBC GranFondo Whistler will be creating a new women’s corral in Stanley Park for 2019.

Fully optional to join and non-speed dependent, the new corral will gather in the Totem Poles parking lot adjacent to the main corral snake, and then be moved into position between the 4.5hr and 5hr corrals as the waves travel through the start line.

Open to everyone who identifies as female, we are trialing the new corral this year in an effort to support safe spaces, openness and inclusivity. We will continue and are committed to looking at ways to support women in cycling, which in recent years has also included ladies-only portalets, non-unisex changing areas and gendered prize money equality.

Like all other corrals, the women’s corral will have a protective neutralized ride marshal lead-out until Taylor Way after the Lion’s Gate bridge.

The goal of this corral is not to specify a rider speed or finishing time objective, but to simply allow women to ride exclusively alongside other women.

To join the corral, follow the wayfinding signs in Stanley Park.

We continue to welcome feedback over this and all other elements of the event. If deemed successful, we will make further comment as to whether this corral will continue in future years. As ever, our Athlete Relations team are here to answer your questions and comments via [email protected]
