After the inaugural Whistler Gran Fondo, we commissioned this large posterboard of the founding riders’ names that sits proudly here in our Vancouver office. Little did we know just how successful the event would become, growing to become the largest Gran Fondo in North America and winning multiple awards in cycling’s vaunted version of the marathon.
And now, we’re about to celebrate 35,000 registrations since the idea for this iconic event came into being. How? With a bit of fun and luxury.
If you happen to be the 35,000th rider, we’re going to upgrade you to our VIP category, Alta Classe, where you’ll be treated like royalty. The catch: we’re not revealing how close to the big number we are. The range is anywhere between 1-60, so it could be the next rider, tomorrow’s, or even beyond.
January is our second biggest period for registrations thanks largely due to people taking advantage of savings on their entry pre-Jan 31st. Let’s just say, expect the number to be hit imminently.
